Interested in working on the Election this year?
Returning Officers are looking for staff to assist them deliver this year’s general election. There are short-term roles available and now is the time to apply for them. The roles present an opportunity to be at the heart of the democratic process. You do not need previous electoral experience because you will be trained on your role.
Election day staff
Election day staff need to have a strong focus on customer service. They will be trained to issue votes to voters in a polling place within their community on election day. The Chief Electoral Office has approximately 16,000 roles to fill around the country for election day.
Headquarters staff (casual hours)
Returning Officers are looking for local staff to work on a range of roles requiring different skills and for different lengths of time. These staff may be called on to issue votes, assist with electorate supplies, enter election results or lead a team of people. There are approximately 2,500 headquarters staff roles to be filled throughout New Zealand.
Headquarters staff will work on a casual basis so they need to be flexible.

Only applications on the required form will be considered - NO telephone applications will be accepted. You only need to apply once.
